GIS Data Subscriptions

Data sharing is central to the success of GIS in Southern Nevada. There are four methods in which the GIS Management Office (GISMO) provides data. The first, GIS Interlocal Agreements is only available to local governmental agencies. The other three methods are available to public citizens and private companies: Downloadable GIS Data Sets, Individual Data Sales as represented by the GIS Data Request Form and the option listed on this page which is characterized as GIS Data Subscriptions.

Those interested in annual subscriptions to the Southern Nevada GIS data warehouse will be required to submit a GIS Data Subscriber License Agreement and Clark County Assessor's Office Parcel Data Agreement. For the annual fee of $17,500, subscribers will receive weekly updates to all of the data in the data warehouse as documented in the MetadataExplorer including property ownership, landuse and much more.

In addition to traditional GIS data sets, subscribers will also receive aerial photography updates twice a year as the data becomes available. Each Fall, the Las Vegas Valley and the outlying urban areas are flown to produce one foot color photography. The Spring flight includes only the Las Vegas Valley. The Fall and Spring flights are depicted on the Aerial Priorities Map. The color photography is rectified using the parcel layer and usually has an horizontal shift of no more than ten feet. In addition to the one foot image files, the GISMO resamples the data to produce two and five foot image files. The most popular pixel size is two foot since it requires significantly less storage space - 35GB for two foot pixels and 140GB for one foot pixels. As the data sets are large, the GISMO requires the dissemination of aerial photography to be made via a hard drive. A hard drive can be supplied by the GISMO to facilitate the data transfer or the subscriber can provide a hard drive to the GISMO which will then be loaded with the digitalimagery.

As users begin to interact with the Southern Nevada GIS data warehouse, they should review the document entitled GIS Data Unzipping Procedures.
