Data sharing is central to the success of GIS in Southern Nevada. There are four methods in which the GIS Management Office (GISMO) provides data. The first, GIS Interlocal Agreements is only available to local governmental agencies. The other three methods are available to public citizens and private companies: GIS Data Subscriptions, Individual Data Sales as represented by the GIS Data Request Form and the options listed on this page which are characterized as Downloadable GIS Data Sets.
Downloadable GIS Data Sets are provided in two formats: native Arc/Info and ESRI shapefiles. In either case, the appropriate directory structures are compressed into one file using WinZip. To get a better understanding of the technical issues related to the Southern Nevada GIS data warehouse, users should become familiar with the topics discussed in the GIS Data Unzipping Procedures.
Listed below are the data sets currently available for download. For those who are unable to effectively download these data sets, the GISMO will provide the data on CD for $35 per CD (approx. 700MB) as required for each CD needed to fill the request.
For those familiar with using FTP, if that is more desirable, the data is available that way too. On Windows XP or Windows 2000, in the address bar of windows explorer, enter ftp://mapsrv.co.clark.nv.us/pub/. For other operating systems, enter that address in your browser. Then simply drag and drop, or copy and paste the desired data. In this case, the folders contain both the shape files (fileName-shp.zip)and the native Arc/Info coverages (fileName-src.zip) so if you download the whole folder, it will be the size of the two files combined (as listed below). For example, the entire General Points of Interest folder (CRGEN) would be 90MB in size since it contains both crgen-src.zip (45MB)and crgen-shp.zip (45MB). If you only want one type of file, you should open the folder and just get the one(s) you want.

To view these geodatabases you need Arc/Info Desktop Software version 9.1 or higher. Geodatabases currently do not have online metadata. The metadata is contained within the file and can be accessed using ArcGis Desktop software.
